Roeliff Jansen Historical Society exhibit remembers World War II, through September 22
From the Home Front to the Front Lines was inspired by the 80th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor
The subject of the Roeliff Jansen Historical Society’s 2022 summer exhibition will be WWII, as told through personal correspondence, photographs, G.I. standard issue equipment, commendations, medals, official documents, photgraphs and mementos of family members who served.
This spring, The Roeliff Jansen Historical Society invited residents of the entire Roe Jan region (Ancram, Copake, Hillsdale, Gallatin & Taghkanic) to lend us WWII photographs, letters, and memorabilia from any branch of the Armed Forces, and from service at home or overseas. We also welcomed stories and memories that have been handed down through the generations. There has been an overwhelming response, and all of these contribute to making From the Home Front to the Front Lines, a memorable exhibit, built on the life-shaping experiences and memories of WW II and our own Roe Jan community.
